Welcome to the KfW Protected Areas Database. Here you can find routines and datasources that we are using to analyze our protected areas portfolio with open data and free and open source software tecnologies. This project is intented to create insights into our own work and propose data products that can be utilized along the whole project cycle in financial cooperation projects (project planning, monitoring, evaluation and portfolio reporting).
This project was created as a reproducible research project using the workflowr package. For more information please visit workflowr website. In order to use our routines you can read our documentation below or and can check out our R-codes from our Github repository.
The website is structured to show data-sources, routines for creating a database and methodologies to analyze the data. The KfW Protected Areas Database is a work in progress project and part of the MAPME initiative to promote the use of open geodata and open-source GIS tecnologies in international development cooperation. We invite others to leave constructive feedback on our work while we are in the doing and get in touch with us on our initiative.
